divine office in Latin

Dear Fr.,

I am a 16 year old Catholic who is quite attached to the Mass, Sacraments, and customs of the church prior to Vatican II. I do accept the validity and the working of the Holy Spirit in Vatican II, but I feel that the old rite is more reverent and I feel more attracted to it because of that. I make it a habit of praying the traditional divine office in Latin on a semi-regular basis (often I only have a chance to recite Vespers). Is this a valid form to use? In order for it to be valid do I have to use the Novus Ordo version of the psalter, or can I use the Tridentine version?

Thank You,

ZD

P.S. Your website has answered many questions about the faith. You are doing a wonderful job. May God bless you in your ministry.

Dear ZD,

You may use the Tridentine version. Wonderful you are praying the divine office. I say a Latin Mass once a week and find the prayers most beautiful, even if I do not understand every word. But I am understanding more and more (even at my age). I hope the same applies to you.

Thank you also for the kind words about the website. You are in my prayers. Remember me as well in yours. God bless,

Fr. Bloom
